Multipurpose solutions — clean, rinse, disinfect and store
Multipurpose contact lens solution is designed for cleaning, rinsing, disinfection and storage of soft contact lenses, including some coloured lenses depending on the product. For best routine results, the rub + rinse method is still commonly recommended.
This type of solution suits wearers who use reusable soft lenses and want a straightforward everyday routine. It should not be replaced with water or mixed with another care system, especially a peroxide solution.
Typical evening routine
- Wash your hands, then place the lens in your palm.
- Add a few drops of solution and gently rub each side for around 10 to 20 seconds.
- Rinse the lens, then place it in the case with fresh solution.
- In the morning, rinse if needed according to the instructions for your solution, then insert the lens.
- Replace the lens case regularly, usually every 1 to 3 months.
For occasional wear, or if you want a simpler routine, daily contact lenses can be a useful alternative. If discomfort continues, ask a specialist for advice: artoptic.ch.
FAQ
Is rubbing the lens really necessary?
In most cases, yes. Rubbing helps remove deposits more effectively, unless the manufacturer specifically states otherwise.
Can I reuse the solution in the lens case or just top it up?
No. You should always discard the used solution and refill the case with fresh solution each time.
Is a multipurpose solution suitable for all lenses?
It is mainly intended for reusable soft contact lenses, but you should always check product compatibility and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
